Sleep

***New***

How can I write
or be creative
when all I want
is to sleep.
I am pulled to darkness,
silence and peace
the cavern that hides
the light of life.
Smile nice, no one will know;
until it gets hard to tell
true smiles from false.

All I want to do is sleep.
Turn off the volume
close down the mind
yet every time
the room goes dark
and sweet peace beckons
I get so near, but cannot
turn off the thoughts
that hammer in my mind -
I cannot stop the march
of nerves, frazzled beneath the skin
like a thousand ants, frantic...

All I want to do is sleep.

Falling...

***Big Smile. Note***

Falling...

There need not be,
when there are two - a call to stop,
so very suddenly.

No jarring halt; to cause a rift
Instead, upon warm whispered breath
does loves freefall end as a drift

In tenderness, a soft embrace
to cushion each in love's cradle
where warmth excites love's heart to race

Freefall; dizzying compelling thrill,
meets no less in love's comfort - to thrum
with excitement when there is the will.

And landing, softly, in a gentle touch
where tactile joy rests and resides
Easy; the motions of love are such.

On Moonbeams

***Big Smile. Note***

On Moonbeams

Quiet night, the darkness illuminated by a silver moon
Punctuates my solitude, exposing thoughts restrained by day.
Tip a toast to all I have loved and lost, much too soon
Closing in upon the time, I too, will slip away.

Silver moon, carry me on a winsome dream,
That a night zephyr might take my heart
take this love I hold inside, delivered as a moonbeam
through distances beyond the plotted chart.

Bring my Love safe passage, held within your song
that he may feel my presence, hearken to my call -
an embrace to touch him, hold him fast and long –
to have his heart think of me, in all he can recall.

Silver moon, these gifts must travel true
they must bear up to last throughout the years
to fulfill a need and share as time comes due
memories to comfort a once lost love’s soft tears.

The Poet

***Another New Note***

The Poet

Words of beauty grace the page
and images spring to bloom
Tenderness, heartbreak, rage –
sunshine bright or shadows darkly loom.

Such is the world of the Wordsmith;
of the poet’s heart, within.
The scent of apple blossoms with
the brisk zephyr for it’s kin.

The poet reaches to impart
the fitting metaphor
to open up the heart
as one might open up a door.

His bag of tricks, near magical,
his words ring clear and fine
to sing the world a madrigal
with the taste of summer wine.

Later in the evening
even the poet takes his pause
and an aging hand picks up the pen
to further shape his cause.

The body wearies with the years
but the mind stays young, and bold.
For all his laughter and his tears
the poet’s heart does not grow old.

Night has come upon him
as he closes tired eyes
sleep takes him to the rim
of sweet dreams and brighter skies.

Autumn is HERE!

***!!!***

Soooooo tired. I'm in need of 30 hour days so I can fit in about three extra hours sleep and three extra hours to catch-up all the rest. I think that should do it. Put in a good word for me with the keeper of the planetary clock.
I'm running as fast as I can, but the only place I'm getting to is Exhausted.

Wonderful change of seasons here, and I hope to all of you as well.

Autumn Parade

Impossibly fluffy clouds
Pass overhead in a parade
Of fuzzy animals and cumulus floats

Colorful leaves pillow my head
Filling my hair with their autumn aroma
As I watch the tufts of white
Floating by within the blue sea of sky

A golden ray of light filters through
As the last of the parade moves on
And the beautiful lady changes her gown
Into the purples and pinks no paint can capture.
